For Patients

What to Expect

What does it feel like?

You will not be able to feel the medicine while it’s in your body.

What do I do in the hospital?

You will need to stay in bed while in the hospital for MIBG therapy. There are lots of things to do in bed:

  • Use your tablet or phone (will need to be wrapped in plastic)
  • Watch TV
  • Play with toys and do projects given to you by our child life specialists.
  • All things you bring to the hospital for your stay will be checked to make sure they are safe to take home. Some items may need to stay at the hospital.

When do I go home?

You’ll be in the hospital for anywhere from 2 to 5 days after the MIBG treatment is given. Your doctors and nurses will tell you when it’s time for you to go home.
